Hey guys, it’s time for our 4th event! A game of “Assassins” will be held during the tute free week on the 1st of September. If you're not sure what Assassins is, it is a popular live action game where players try to eliminate each other from the game using mock weapons in an effort to become the last surviving player. For more information you can check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin_(game). Please give it a read so you'll get an idea of what the game is like. It's not exactly the same though, we've made some modifications to suit our needs.

Here are some brief details:
Date: 1st September 2010, Wednesday
Time: 10:30am - 4pm
Venue: Outside Haydn Williams Lecture Theater (Building 405)
- An ID card or a badge with the player's photo and a unique number on a poker chip will be used for identity and game purposes.
- Weapons must be provided by each player. These may include spoons, , plastic materials, nerf guns, rubber animals, other harmless traps, wacky string, sock bombs, inflatable items and pretty much anything else as long as it is NOT CAPABLE OF CAUSING PHYSICAL HARM!
- You will be assigned a random target on the day.

GAMEPLAY RULES:
- Players will be rewarded “game money” for successful kills.
- The game money can be used to buy clues and other stuff.
The schedule can be something like...

1) Introduction by president of the committee and how the club is run (what and where our usual activities are held)

2) Show a few trailers of Anime
3) Some "get to know the school" and ice-breaker games
eg. I was thinking of this variety show called "Onigokko"

Since the event suggestions thread has kinda been dead for a while I decided to make a new thread and suggest this, I remember it being suggested before but no one properly looked into it, so i did and it seems pretty awesome!

lol ok well we mentioned ages ago a 'humans and zombies' event and ive been reading, comparing it with 'assassins' and I think 'assassins' would be SOOO much better.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin_(game)

Why?

1. Because it is something more expected to do within 1 day rather than being long term/many days like HvZ.
2. Because it is more of a 'one off hit/kill' thing rather than with HvZ where zombies are merely stunned unless not tagging anyone for a few days.
3. More flexibility with weapons since it is a one off kill thing, plus the cool thing is, EVERYONE is an assassin and EVERYONE is a victim.

Anyways I will discuss this more with committee and possibly other clubs. I reckon It would be heaps fun to do! and fits more into the 'budget', 'our degree and limit of planning' and turnout .

Hey kids,

Some of you have already noticed that both Minami-ke and Syoukanzyuu have 13 episodes, while the semester only has 12 weeks. Due to this, we won't be able to finish them in the screenings. We can however grab the hall during the study week but this is kinda counter-intuitive to people passing.

Has anyone got a suggestion on how we can provide you guys with a screening of the last two episodes? Either reply here, or speak to me at the screening, I'm the guy standing at the front providing the mood lighting and mic reverb. I'll announce it at the screening as well I guess.

Additionally, this week's screening, Rainbow, is rather graphic and some may interpret it as obscene or offensive. If you are put off at all by medical examinations, graphic depictions of abuse, or banding in your encodes, it might be best to skip the preview this week.
