I dont think it would really work. If people wanna ask questions or discuss things they already use the forums.
If people wanna talk about things in a monster instantaneous manner then they have facebook chat, msn, calling on a phone and seeing people irl.
shoutboxes are a bad idea especially for forums.
i still dont understand why people have them.
if you want to chat, do it elsewhere.
We could also try hook up a popup window with an IRC Client~
thats also counted as a sorta shoutbox Lol
we kinda did that last time.
just never got around to doing it this time.
anyway i want to keep discussions on the forums.
if people want to chat on the irc, we can help them pick an irc client and help them use it.
I can imagine 1-2 people spamming the shoutbox and the rest of us ignoring it like it was an annoying ad

Denied. That's like taking a forum, sticking all functionality next to it, and effectively killing your forum. If people want realtime chat they can use IRC.
